Serving God over money, a biblical perspective

Chrysolite CCMC Biblical Principles for Financial Stewardship in Ministry

The Bible teaches that a disciple must prioritize serving God over money, warning that trying to serve both is impossible (Matthew 6:24). While money is a neutral tool, the love of money is a root of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). True discipleship requires trust in God’s provision, not chasing wealth.

Chrysolite CCMC Biblical Principles for Financial Stewardship in Ministry:

  • Prioritize God: Jesus commands seeking first the kingdom of God, promising that necessities will be provided (Matthew 6:33).
  • Trust, Don't Chase: Rather than chasing money, believers are encouraged to chase God, allowing blessings to follow (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).
  • Heart Placement: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:21). Loving money divides loyalty.
  • Contentment: True gain is found in godliness combined with contentment (1 Timothy 6:6).
  • Contentment over Haste: The Bible warns against gaining wealth hastily, advising steadiness (Proverbs 13:11).
  • Right Motivation: While workers deserve their wages (Luke 10:7), seeking money can lead to abandoning the faith (1 Timothy 6:10).

Unknowingly, when you begin to worship money, it becomes the deciding factor in any step you want to take in life. When money becomes your greatest consideration in every affair in life, you are very far from God. Jesus said you cannot serve God and mammon (money), but if you serve God faithfully, you will have money.

Essentially, money should be a tool managed with integrity, not a master to be served.

Why You'll Love Serving Here

  • A supportive, prayerful, and encouraging ministry family.
  • Opportunities for personal spiritual growth and leadership development.
  • Training and resources to equip you for effective discipleship.
  • The joy of seeing God work through you to change lives.
